My little man first time being sick @ 16 months

Every one of us is sick. Hubby has been sick since last week and he has been sleeping in another bedroom. I've tried making herb drink for him, asking him to gargle with salt, asking him to take his cough mixture or his medicine for his flu but he's still not well. I really don't expect him to be well as he is only taking most of the stuff I recommend half heartedly. He is always forgetting or have excuses like he's full etc. I'm not here to babysit a grown adult so if he's not going to follow simple instruction then he can suffer and stay sick. The only problem is now my little guy and I are sick too!!

I had onion rings and potato wedges for lunch yesterday (good going huh!) I should have been more careful but I didn't think about it and as soon as I finished them I felt like my throat was not feeling well. I quickly drank some pei pa koa drink and shared it with my baby too!!such a stupid move on me but I've been kissing him etc too.. Anyway last night I was so very miserable. I had the chills and I was so worn out but could not sleep. Finally I got up and took two ibuprofen and went over to hubs room to get some cough drops which helps a little. My baby cough several times last night too and was having sleepless nights. He would wake up and have a difficulty going back to sleep. Thankfully he wasn't crying or anything just slowly going back to sleep. I was sooo frustrated cause I was miserable and I knew I needed sleep but could not sleep at all all night. I was soooo miserable I wanted to cry!

Anyway I called my baby's doctor to see what medicine they recommended since I am still breastfeeding and to see what they thought about my little guy's condition. She wanted me to go to a doctor because she is scared I might have strep which I don't think so since I'm not that bad so I'm giving it another day before I go see a doctor. Towards afternoon my little man started coughing more and actually wake him up from his nap. He would actually cough until he cried! I am not sure if his throat hurt or he has phlegm or he's not sue to the coughing. He also had a slight fever of 101.5. I quickly called the doctor's office again (doctor's night mare to have patience like this huh) and see what they said. She said to monitor my little man and give him Tylenol to get the fever down. If he still has fever tomorrow morning they will need to see him. So far after the first dose the fever is pretty much gone but I did give him another dose before bed just in case. They also told use to spray some saline solution in him but he cried when he saw it so hubby said we would just wait and see if he really needs it.

I on the other had was feeling fine and was cooking some porridge and totally is judge how long it would take to cook them. Anyway it took longer than expected and my ibuprofen worn off so I didn't feel very good. I felt like I almost wanted to faint. I quickly go take two ibuprofen again because I know my fever is back. I was so miserable again because I was so hungry but didn't feel well. All I wanted to do was to lay down. Thankfully when the medicine kicked in I felt much better. I've been gargling my mouth with salt water and trying to suck on strepsil and some cough drops. I actually don't feel that bad during the day if I continue take my ibuprofen and the fever don't kick in.

I've always been very very careful about getting my little man sick. Apart from him getting fever from his jabs or teething he's never been sick! I've always tried to shield him and make sure I sanitize etc so he has a slight chance on getting sick. This time he is not spared. I just hope that he is not severe and he will get well quickly! As for me I need to get well soon so I can take care of my boys!

My poor boy coughing all night long and when ever he's taking a nap hence he is not getting much nap and has been cranky all day. He's also puked a few times which is good because it is how he expels his phlegm but the bad part is I've been having to wash the sheets every time he pukes cause is usually on me and all over the sheets.

BALL

Hubs have had a long week this week. He's been leaving for work earlier than usual and been getting back pretty late. By the time he comes home our little guy is already asleep or going to bed. He has not seen his son much in the evening and some mornings when he leaves earlier.

This morning he didn't leave early because he was waiting for the new iPhone 5 to arrive since is signature required. Anyway as usual our little man was playing with his dad and giving his daddy his books to read to him. I don't remember what he was doing but I told hubs "ehh you ask him take the "B A L L" for you (I spelled it).. Before hubby could tell his son to take the ball for him he ran to take the ball and give it to him!! We try and spell a lot of things to him when we talk to him.

Coincident you would say? After we got home from dinner just now the hubs tried it again. The hubs said " can you get daddy the ball(he spelled it) and his little man went and got the ball and gave it to him!! I guess he knows that's the spelling for ball.

Although he doesn't speak much words for his age compared to some kids but I guess as long as he understands is a good start. As long as he is trying I won't worry much at the moment. I think spelling things to him is another good way to teach him. I'm so proud of my little man and just his little accomplishment. What more can we ask for from a little man that's only 15 months old :)

15 months

My little guy is about 15.5 months now. We went to the doctor for his 15 months wellness check up a few weeks ago and also to get a few jabs (poor guy!) As he gets older it is more and more of a challenge for the pediatrician to check him and also to give him his jabs!

14months

Little guys development is improving everyday. He is at this age where he is testing his boundaries and does not understand when we are trying to reason with him which drives hubs and I crazy since he will do things he is not suppose to like pull the blinds (he broke one of my blinds already which cost about $45 per piece!), or open the drawers and pulling stuff out, pulling hubs glasses etc.. I tried giving him time out but sometimes he just thinks that is a game!

Loves to walk...especially walk by himself without holding anyone's hands. He can run very quick too! Every time when we go shopping hubs will watch him and just get worn out chasing after him! Last week I took him to the mall he was trying to run everywhere! I was trying to hold him and push the stroller! @_@ we really need to get a harness for him real soon! Hubs didn't like the ones that we saw in the store. He wants to get the one to put on his hands but I don't want. I want those that is actually on his body. Still debating and we really need to make a decision real soon or else it can be very difficult to chase him and he don't like to hold our hands. When we let him walk freely in the store u can she the smile he has on his face! Happy as a pig in a sty!! Lol

The past 3.5 weeks we finally decided that hubs should sleep with him in another bed so he don't "snack" on me all night long causing him and I to have lack of asleep. It was pretty difficult at first then he finally got it down to nurse, dad reads story books, turn off the lights and bed time. I had to put him to bed at night last week twice and the first time was really difficult as he wanted to nurse to sleep. Second night he knew and didn't ask to nurse. He is still nursing to nap and I've been trying to break this habit and doing the going to bed routine but it has not been working. I really don't mind him nursing nap time but I just don't want to spoil the night routine. Morning at about 5-6 am he would wake up and cry and I will carry him in my bed nurse him and hopefully he will snooze for another hour or some. This week we have not been lucky at all! He has been getting up at 6am and refusing to go back to sleep! The last two night he has been waking up at almost midnight and waking up him the morning between 4-6 am (usually at the early time). I do not believe in having him cry himself to sleep cause No ONE should need to cry themselves to sleep so hubs and I decided that if he cries to hard I will get him and he has been crying very hard for me so have been nursing him until he's drowsy and putting him down. However in the morning I still take him to bed with me and nurse him. Today he got up at 3:50 am and was screaming for me! He also got up at 6am!! FML.. If he's crying like this no one can sleep anyway so might as well I get him instead of sleepless morning for the whole family.

ONE

I cannot believe my baby turned ONE! Sob sob.. His journey into toddler hood has begun! It just seems like yesterday that I was heavily pregnant and was anticipating his arrival! Hoping and praying that everything will go alright and that I have a healthy and happy baby.

Fast forward 12 months later I have a healthy and mostly happy boy!! This little guy has not only have me wrap around his little fingers but he has his daddy, my parents even my sister!! He really knows how to charm people!

I am really happy that my sister got to celebrate his FIRST birthday with us. Plane tickets were sky rocket high but my sister and her friend made an effort to come down and celebrated his birthday with us. hooray!!!

I was planning on having a huge birthday party for him, but after doing some research I decided not to because they said that kids at his age does not know how to appreciate a birthday party and it can be too over whelming for him as well.

First mother's day

I blogged about my first mother's day on mother's day itself but didn't get a chance to finish it and I am not sure if I did not save it so it actually went missing! I've been too tired the past weeks to do much.

I had a great mother's day. Hubby made breakfasts that morning. I requested biscuits and gravy because I knew that it would make hubby's life easier! Lol Anyway that is one of DH's speciality. I also know that in the mornings because of my little guy we don't have much time to prepare breakfast.

We basically went out to shop a little on Saturday and stayed home on Sunday instead since I know that it will be packed everywhere (is always packed anyway but worst I would assume). Also on Sundays I rather stay at home and rest so that hubby can get well rested for the week instead of running around doing errands or going shopping.

DH changed all of my little guys diapers so I didn't even change a single one of his diapers!! Lol.. He tried to deal with our little guy all day long while mummy just chill. All mummy needed to do was to nurse him and put him to sleep because they both come hand in hand.

To end my night my two boys wrote me a little note (I could hear both of them when I was taking a shower) lol. Daddy was trying to reprimand him from touching or destroying stuff while he's trying to type the note on the computer.

Can't wait for father's day! Hopefully it will be a good one for hubby!

11months

@11 months old

My baby is almost 11months old! I say this ALL the time but where has the time been??? He will turn ONE years old in a month!!WOW!!

I'm not sure how much he weights since we don't go to the doctor until his 12months wellness check up but I'm pretty sure he put on weight since the last time we weight him at the dr's office.

He now has 5.5 tooth (.5 has just started to sprout out). Bites on everything except his teething toys.

9.5 months(over due)

We went for the little guys 9months wellness check up a few days after we got back.

Weight: 20lb 6.4oz (9.253kgs)

Height: 29.5"

This little guy is growing too quickly! When we first went back to Malaysia he did not dare and refuse to call on the marble and the hardwood floor(used to crawling on carpet here) gong gong (my dad) had to go get a big carpet so he can crawl around. After that he didn't even need carpet. He was an expert in crawling and going every where!

He started calling Da da da di toward the second week of February. Just in time as daddy was arriving Malaysia a week after that!

Back from our vacation!

We are back from out two months long vacation!! Nope we didn't get to blog at all during our vacation. Can you imagine that we've been busy everyday the two months we were gone!! Unbelievable!! I thought by going back two months I will definitely have more time to catch up with the family and friends. I did have time to catch with most of the family members but not much time with the friends especially with the little guy it was definitely difficult to catch up with everyone. I am already thinking of my next trip!!Hopefully it will be easier to deal with my little guy when he's a little older. We definitely missed our furry babies and daddy while we were gone.

My little guy had too much fun!!Now that we are back he feels so loss not having all the attention that he's been getting especially from his favorite popo (maternal grandmother). I do feel bad for my baby because I am all he has during the day to entrain him and I am not much fun! I try my hardest to entertain him but at the back of my head I'm constantly thinking of the things I have to do which make it not much fun for him and I. In conclusion we do miss the company of all our family and friends!!sob sob..

My baby has grown so much since the last time I blogged (I truly need to blog about his 9months milestone before he turns 10months old). I will attempt to do that today if my little boss would let me. The two months that we were back home my dad even commented how much he's change just the two months he was there!!

I just want to thank my  dearest family and friends for everything while we were back home for our vacation. The never ending presents that my little man got was just unbelievable. Hubs and I didn't even buy much because our luggage space was mostly used up for our little guys presents!! We are truly blessed and we feel so loved by every one of you!!!My little guys is truly a lucky little man to have family members like you all!!If only we live closer I am sure he will be spoiled rotten by each and every one of you! Hopefully we get to see you all again soon!!

Almost seven months

In a few days my lil guy will be seven months old. I am proud to say that I am still breast feeding him with little to no problem now.

My initial plan was to breast feed him at least six months to as year. Thank god that we are still going strong despite our rocky start at the beginning.

I really feel for mothers when I read babycenter about them sharing or complaining about the challenges they are facing breastfeeding their infant. I too can definitely vouch that it is NOT simple at all at the beginning. I has my share of breastfeeding challenges when I first started. My lil guy would not latch well and I had no experience what so ever in breastfeeding hence my baby was not getting milk thus frustrated and hungry. I was stress because he was nursing so often which now I know is normally and to help build my supply by the way and was exhausted because I was not used to not much sleep since I had to take care of a newborn.

I'm already missing the time when he would always be nursing. Just him and me.. Now my challenge is that he's so curious and loves to look around so I cannot really feed him anywhere except the bedroom unless he's really hungry and then also he will just nurse enough and continue to look around. I am also not able to wear my nursing cover when nursing because we push and pull it. We got a new carrier for my upcoming trip back to Malaysia and I think I'm able to also breastfeed him in the carrier. Let's see how it works.

At the beginning I plan to breast feed till one years old if everything goes smoothly but my mom did suggest that if I can I should breastfeed him as long as I can since breast milk is better for him. Hubby thinks the same and said that as long as I am able to I can breastfeed him as long a I want. I will probably breastfeed him as long as I can because I really enjoy and love the bonding him and I have.

Initially I was planning on going back to work so I actually pumped and stocked up my freezer with breast milk but since I decided to quit my job and stay home with my baby I have about 300 ounces of milk in my freezer. I'm not complaining but my hubs is asking me to use at least some! I'll probably need to start using them when I come back from my vacation or even before that. If not I'll probably donate my milk to the hospital.

6.5 months

I better finish updating my lil guy's six month update before I have more post saved up! I have so many things to blog about but haven't gotten much opportunity.

Exactly 6 months old

My baby is already 6.5 months old! We were a little late for his 6 months wellness check up and shots because we kept rescheduling due to our busy schedule.

Weight: 18lbs 12oz (8.505 kg)

Height: 27.5"

Lil guy is now capable on sitting without tumbling over but of course he has to sit on a firm surface. Also an expert in rolling over back to front and front to back so he's been rolling like a pro when ever he gets up. He's been waking up weee morning and rolling everywhere so I told hub to come back to bed and sleep with us because I don't want to give the lil guy as much room to roll around and hoping that he won't wake up so often. That didn't work but at least daddy now gets to sleep with his lil guy.

He's been getting up about every 3 hours and I really don't know what to do anymore. I am not planning to sleep train him or anything at the moment because him and I will be leaving on a vacation in a few weeks. I figure when we leave his schedule etc will get mess up too so might as well do it when we get back once we get back to our routine.

I was giving him solids everyday and even started him solids at night but it was causing him to be constipated  so I actually stopped giving him solids for the few days leading up to his doctor's appointment. His doctor said I will need to give him much more liquids and juices to hopefully get it going again. I am hesitant on giving him juices because of the preservatives and sugar.

My baby has a white spud sprouting out! He has tooth now!! He's drooling like leaking water faucet! He is putting EVERYTHING he sees in his mouth!

I cannot believe how quickly and fast my lil baby is growing. I'm sure in no time he's going to be a lil man and then a big man..it's really bitter sweet cause I am already missing him when he was younger (not the no sleep part but not like I'm getting much now!) Since he's so much more active he's also losing his baby fat :(

Being a tolerant person

I'm not a health or hygiene freak but with a new born around I always try and keep him in a clean and hygiene surrounding. I wash my hands all the time and especially before carrying him. Because of my little OCD I've not very often allow the dogs to jump on me because if I do I'll have to bath and change. Even every once in a while we let our lil guy pet daisy and we will wash his hands! He's at this age where he puts EVERYTHING in his mouth plus he's teething!

Many people that wants to carry my little man always washes their hands before carrying him and ESPECIALLY after petting the dogs. Even though some people have had kids will pet the dogs AND wanting to carry my guy after that OR carry my guy and pet the dogs. I keep my dogs clean but it does NOT mean that u can touch any clean dogs and touch my child!

Another thing is my lil man does not like some people so either u deal with it or wait till he warms up! Some people just wants to carry him and not only make him fussy but will do anything to carry him like giving him other kids toys for him to play! Not only that but letting him put it in his mouth!! That just PISSED me off.. Common use that brain of yours!! I'm sure that is not much harm but is so unhygienic since I'm positive the other kid put that toy in her mouth or throw it every where!!

I don't care who they are if my child don't like you to carry please don't!! I do not mind taking care or carrying my own child so you don't have to keep forcing me to let you carry him!

I honestly do not think that I'm being unreasonable at all. If you cannot be hygienic then just don't come near or carry my lil guy. I am not trying to put him in a "bubble" but he's only six months old I would like to keep him as healthy as possible especially when he was just born!

I can tolerate certain behavior to a certain level but when it comes to my child people need to learn how to back off!!

His Latest Antics

My baby is growing so quickly!!Every day when I look at him I find him different all the time. He's growing to be such a big and cheeky boy. I am already missing his younger days (not the times when I don't get sleep). I cannot stop reminisce the time when I first lay eyes on him...(So soon..wait till he's older and make me angry?)

These few days he's been really cheeky and very very active. He's been making all sorts of noise, turning and moving around in bed during bed/nap time and when he gets up.

Crawl all over the bed taking over daddy's spot and soon mummy's spot. Was stuck because mommy was laying there in his way hence he cannot crawl/move.

I quickly went to take a shower when he was napping but when I got done showering he greeted me like this.

Cheeky monster just got up from his nap

Afternoon her was learning to   sticking his tongue out a little and by the end of the evening he was already sticking it all out. He was doing this all evening long even when he's taking a bath!!

Alone with my lil guy

Continue from previous post:

Day 2: DH tried to hung around and help with our lil guy in the morning after that it was just the both of us. He was not too happy I think he knows is just boring mummy. Popo is no where to be found!!@_@ he was pretty whiny. I think he's not stimulated enough hence he was not that tired and didn't nap much at all. I did take him out to get some groceries but that was not enough to make him tired apparently. In the evening as I was about to take him for a walk his godma got home and joined us for our evening stroll. He managed to nap bout 30mins during our 1.5hrs walk when we got home daddy was home so we pretty much entertain him from then! Phew! Thank god!

Day 3: since it was a Saturday and daddy didn't have to go work he can entertain his lil guy. DH helped feed him as even managed to put him down for a nap ( he normally ends up playing with him and half an hr later I'm left to put a cranky boy to take his nap!)he slept for two hours then we headed to the woodlands to walk around at their pavilion and the mall. After that we went for dinner with aunt L and uncle R. We went to furrs buffet because the first time I went there it was really good but Saturday was such a dissapointment! Doubt I'll ever go there again. Our lil man was bored waiting for us and was no very happy. Luckily I found a bake sweet potato and was able to give him that since I've already introduced sweet potato to him. Got home at about 6ish daddy bath him(another achievement of daddy to bath him alone) while I took my bath quick. I was so tired from the walking I went to bed with lil man at 8pm!! Felt good though :)

Day 4: Once again daddy was here to help since it was Sunday! DH played with him in the morning, fed him and put him down for his naps. After that we took a quick run to the grocery stores to get some vegetables then came home. DH put him down again for his nap and proceeded to watch his football while I made some puree spinach. DH had to sleep in another room because he had to leave at 5am for work.

Day 5: I had to deal with my lil guy ALL day!! It was exhausting!! DH had to leave early for work. We went to my old work place to see my ex co worker then came home. I believe that my lil man gets bored really quickly and needs more stimulation to make him tired and not so bored! DH didn't get home till much later and by the time DH got home to play with him for a little while he was already cranky and wanting to go to bed.

 Going for a walk

Day 6: DH once again had to leave early! I took him out to the grocery store to get a turkey for thanksgiving. We went out for 2 hours and when we got home he only napped for 30 minutes!! Sometimes he can nap longer and sometimes he just takes quick nap. Thankfully DH came home at a decent time that day. We went for  a walk in the evening but quick came home because I thought it was relatively warm and did not bundle my lil guy up and told DH no need to wear long pants etc..Needless to say we were all cold!!Came home DH showered while I fed and bath my lil guy. Then DH played with him while I shower and we ate quick. Bed time!!

Day 7: We hung around the house because traffic is just crazy! Everyone is either shopping last minute for thanksgiving or going out of town. DH didn't want me to be driving around.

Day 8: Thanksgiving Day!! DH was home so he could entertain him while I cooked. (Will blog about out thanksgiving day later)

I'm slowly getting the hang of just the both of us. I wanted to take him to the little gym but unfortunately the schedule clashes with his nap time and is thanksgiving week so they are close a few days. I am slowly trying to manage my time more like putting him on the bjorn while I vacuum and do laundry, Mopping and cleaning while he's napping etc...I'm getting pretty proud of myself!!

Alone with my lil guy

Ever since my lil guy was born I've always had help taking care of him. In the hospital it was hubby, dr's and nurses. When we came home it was hubby and my parents.

My mom's been here with me for more than 5 months now and the last time she saw my sis it was just a few days when she came down to see us in July. I think it would only be fair for my mom to go over to spend some thanksgiving and some time with my sister before she goes back to Malaysia. I mean she came here for so long I cannot be so selfish have her all to myself.

So we decided that my mom should hang out with my sis for two weeks. Mom got her plane tickets last month to prevent needing to pay the price increase for thanksgiving travel. My mom's flight was on wed (11/16). On Tuesday I found out I had this. Great! I'm suppose to rest a lot etc but my mom will be gone the next day. There was no way we were going to change her plane ticket because it will be too troublesome and it will cost to change her ticket.

Wednesday morning we all took my mom to the airport. Then when we got back hubby had to go to work. I basically dealt with my lil the rest of the afternoon. Not that bad but was a little tired and thankfully hubby came home pretty earlier so he help feed and bath our lil guy then I put him to bed. Phew! Not too bad...survived!

The next day we got up and hubby played with him for a little while and hung around to do some work. Then I put him down for his first nap which went pretty good. After that it was pretty bad. He refused to nap and all day long he only managed to take 2 hrs nap! I know he can do better than that because he's been getting at least 2.5-4 hrs nap in the past two weeks! I tried to rest as much as I can but of course dealing with a cranky baby that refuse to nap and three dogs was almost impossible. I tried going for a walk with him hoping that he will fall asleep but he would not. Well by 5ish he was cranky and getting tired. I quickly fed and bath him. He went to bed at 7pm! After he went to bed only I was able to do other stuff.

Okay! I survived..Survived my first 24hrs with him. I am not sure if I'm just not entertaining enough for him that's why he's not that tired or he just misses his popo (grandma)..Hubby thinks he misses popo...

I have 13 more days to go...wish me luck!!!

Down with a cold

I currently have the cold and I'm really upset! I am hoping that I won't get the lil monster sick! It will be difficult for the poor guy to tell me if he's not feeling comfortable so I'm really hoping that he has high immune system and not get sick from both DH and me.

As I mentioned here my lil trooper rolled over despite the fact that he was having fever after his shots. He was so run down and drowsy but when we put him down he kept rolling over.

Lil monster; mummy, daddy, gong gong, popo and yi yi so very proud of you although you were not feeling well you still got the energy to roll over so mummy can take a video for daddy, gong gong and yi yi to see. :)
